i tried the suggested way of creating report but it is more complex coz for this will have to go and do entry in each po. i wanted to make it easy for my staff so that can just write a simple status againt the item as there are lot of items at one point so to write remarks in each po will be tedious job. however i tried it
If they are 100s of POs, will your staff complain?? Yes, it will have to be done this way only.......there is no other way that I am aware. TDLs not necessary means it will save labour.....it will make task easier...... if TDL saves labour... half of the AC dept staff will be out of work. Sometimes hardway is the best way. This is an additional 2 fields in the ORDER voucher.....what is there to complain. In your method.... how and where is the LINK to the main data?? How will you update it and track it? The best logical solution is the one I have suggested. I have done this for one of my Client a year back.
If you are making it easy for your staff, are you reducing their pay for less work?? Trust me, that is not how it should be planned. You continue using the method....if you are stuck let me know. Will help you out.
I have made similar User input reports for Debtor's O/s. Ageing, Stock reports etc.....in same manner......it is more easier to use the in-built reports.
thats what im trying or lets say wanting to do. it is not abt just saving labor its also abt creating a smarter interference as of now we use excel to create a summary and to make it work in tally want to develop a smarter solution. isnt there any way to link up the main data by using my method?
There is a complicated method (at least to me) of writing back the input values back to the collection via a function. Am not good in function, hence complicated for me. If you know functions, you can try. Study "BANK RECONCILIATION" ...in that...user inputs the date, which is then saved to the system. See if that helps you.
i did fetch the narration and it happened to but then it was not allowing to save the alteration from the report for that i had to do it from voucher itself so is it possible to alter it from report itself
but the problem is still that we need to add a field in the voucher itself and do the changes there. rather than just saving inputs in report
You can also have 2 additional field above the NARRATION box, where you can input the details. In my case, as per client's requirements, I've added box which pops out after the PartyName. You can have the same anywhere in the Voucher..... below the party name, above Narration or whereever you fancy.
That's the only way. If you find any other way do let me know, because I am also interested in learning. I have many such additional field in vouchers.....made for my Client.

True...more experience, but not translating to more knowledge and skills. Am still amateur with regards to functions, Objects etc..... In dat case, I do R&D....trial & error and make it work.....or find a more logical workaround. Am still learning.
i feel the only way to my solution is splitting the parts and linking the parts or if we can alter the voucher through reporting so we can use narration box or create new field and then using it for altering through report
